This is a miniature Goedendag which means “good day” in Dutch! A basic looking tool, it was a very effective and simple polearm working as a short spear and a club. These were typically quite simple and crude in their construction, but this has a more elegant design that probably would not have been seen on a peasant’s armament.
The head is made from a high carbon Damascus steel with a fluted square geometry, and is socketed into a brass collar and secured to the haft with a steel pin. The haft is polished walnut with decorative brass studs.
