The shield is made of two layers of tiny birch planks, laid in opposing directions and glued together. It is roughly 4” in diameter. The boss is forged from mild steel and secured by being riveted through the wood of the shield with tiny handmade nails, as is the oak handle, two belt hoops and a leather rim. Finally the shield face has been hand painted with a runic inspired Ouroboros serpent.
